5. Community Activities
For newcomers to the area there are many ways to get to know our local community and become engaged in activities from arts and crafts to writing, photography, painting, sculpting, open air theatre, dance, charity support and local artisan food shops.
Rottingdean is in a line of villages with their own distinct community activities which are shared across the coast. We are very welcoming to people with different cultures and backgrounds. Neolithic settlements lived on Beacon Hill four thousand years ago using early flint tools. The Romans settled here two thousand years ago building roads and towns. The Norman French landed near here in Battle at Hastings over one thousand years ago.
Rottingdean Village has a heritage of wind energy use since the Smock Mill was erected in 1802 milling grain for bread. We now have a wind farm 12 miles offshore generating renewable energy for nearly one million Sussex householders.

The Universities contract many professional service providers and I’ve been working with them since 2014 to support local entrepreneurs innovations and obtain fully funded graduate interns to assist my business.
